Great day out at Surrey KC agility today. After 12 weeks off with my sciatica and Ellie’s pups and a not so fit Poppy I wasn’t expecting much and was just planning on hobbling round the courses (which I did) with a steady Pops to just have some fun. Well this worked for the first two classes where our steady clears got us a 5th in C1-2 Agility 1 and 7th in C1-2 Jumping. However by the time it got to C1-2 Agility 2, Poppy decided that she had had enough of waiting for me and me holding her back and shot off to do things properly with me totally unable to keep up in my still half broken state and just shouting left, right, go, through, scale it etc at the (sort of) correct times! Judge Bill Chaffe who knows Pops and me and my plans to keep her steady was laughing his head off, applauding her beautiful clear and shouting ‘about time’ at me. I go running to the scorer to check my time asking ‘please tell me I haven’t won it have I?’ Luckily the answer was ‘no but she has done very well’, so I was able to call back to the still laughing Bill that she hadn’t won it at which he stuck his tongue out at me!!! A good giggle and Pops earned herself a well deserved 2nd place π This excellent collection of points today leaves us just needing 10 now for her silver warrant so almost there and with 2 shows to go still this year, if my back holds up hopefully she’ll do it!
Ellie enjoyed the day out but was gutted not to have any runs. She will be thrilled to do casual at AJAX as we work in her fitness.
The pups came as well and had a fantastic day making loads of new friends, human and dog and it was great socialisation for them with even the red arrows going over a few times as they did a display down the road.
We also got the pleasure of meeting up with the lovely Bolt again with Josie also having a great time and looking so well and happy π
A good catch up with loads of agility friends as well so a really good fun day for me as well. Off for a soak in the hot tub shortly in the hope I don’t stiffen up too much and will be able to walk tomorrow!!
